I don’t know if it’s because I’ve been reading DFW for the last couple months, but when I was watching this lecture by Randy Pausch (professor at Carnegie Mellon) I was seeing Wallace-ian elements everywhere. Â The way that Pausch unpacks cliches to reveal important truths made me think of AA in Infinite Jest, as well as Wallace’s Kenyon commencement speech. Â This lecture is worth watching in its own right, but also interesting in some of the ways it parallels some of the ideas in Wallace’s works.
An Interesting Parallel
