a quick look
Now that Shock and Awe has decided to become a blogger after college, this article might offer him some hope.
This 21 year old kid, Brian Stelter, has been running the-It blog for the television industry for the last couple of years--it's tvnewser.com. And this kid is seriously high profile, as one of the article's interviewees attests:
"'The biggest TV executives, the men and women who run the top networks, look at this kid's Web site all the time,' said Joe Scarborough, the host of the talk show "Scarborough Country" on MSNBC. 'And the genius of it is that everybody thinks they own him. Everybody says: "Oh, I've got a great relationship with Brian. Let me leak it to him."'"
Not only is the kid beloved, his content is revered: the blog "is read religiously by network presidents, media executives, producers and publicists, not for any stinging commentary from Mr. Stelter, whose style is usually described as earnest, but because it provides a quick snapshot of the industry on any given day."
Funny enough, it's all wound up in Stelter's life--as the article notes: "When his postings dropped off last month after his girlfriend dumped him, Mr. Stelter found himself fielding complaints from powerful network executives about when he was going to get over his romantic travails and get back on track."
That might be a little too high profile for me!
Anyway, I just thought it was a really cool/funny article, and look--power to the blogger!

wow
I can't believe this story. I knew that some people get paid by sites to blog. (I may or may not check in on some fashion blogs now and then) but this is an amazing tale. Maybe because he was doing it for free and he's so young, people trust him? At any rate, more power to him. Even if he isn't paid tremendously well, it sounds like he has all kinds of job opportunities lined up for post-graduation!
