don't call me a movie

In the quest to find more information on "The Onyx Project," I checked in with the ever-reliable IMDb, which sadly failed me (though yielded an *ahem* interesting list of suggested titles) (And rotten tomatoes' list of titles has even less to do with anything). I find the lack of its presense on traditional movie-reviewing sites interesting. On the project's website, they're forever harping on the fact that it's not a movie and you can't make it one!

My two cents is the reason they kept getting turned down by all the people in Hollywood is that such people forsaw that it would probably not be a successful project. The format of the software is far more condusive to pure documentaries, or "educational programming" than the sort of pseudo-docu-drama they have created that, from the two clips I've seen, has the visual interest of a radio broadcast. I realize they were on a tight budget but...

Their content choice is really intriguing to me. I'm assuming it is completely fictionalized. I don't think they could get away with anything even remotely true so close to the events, too risky to the people involved and other operations and la-ti-da-da. It definitely has some sort of a political agenda. I'm not entirely certain what, but given the support the project got from several segments of the govenment, I can only assume it ends up being somewhat rightwing, or at least not leftwing or terribly antiwar. Especially since the budget's only $200,000. Although I'm finding the rather lack of buzz about it on the internet or in other media that I can find rather *herm...* given the political drive of the piece. *mind wanders off to wrap itself up in a giant ball of varients on the conspiracy theory*

And on a rather unrelated note, googling "The Onyx Project" yeilded this link which I found amusing and intriguing, and further proof that legos are, in fact, the coolest toy ever, tm. (Did anyone else ever make the lego robots that you could program with the computer? I don't know if they ever updated the program from the floppy disk software...)

I was getting the idea it

I was getting the idea it was supposed to be more leftwing, or at least some kind of I used to think Bush was ok but now I've become disillusioned type thing...
