Appendix
As we wrap up our final projects, I'm just wondering what other people ended up writing about in their appendix/accompanying paper. My project appendix was one of the last things to come together for me. My project is mostly drawn from pre-existing source material, so I had trouble creating an interjection in my own voice that didn't seem jarring. One of my goals starting out was to create a hypertext that wasn't self-concious, something that shaped the content without overpowering it. Even expressing this sentiment in my appendix made me feel as though I was to some extent compromising my intial goals. I ended up making the paper a bit more palatable by putting it in the form of an "about" page that explained what the project was and how to navigate it. My own experiences of creating the project ended up being quite relevant to my recommendations on how to explore the text.
where to put it all
Yup, same issue here. My project is set up in a blog, so whatever I post will somehow link there. Being that my project was an attempt at an online community, I feel like I'm killing things by putting the analysis on the page itself. Really, with how much I have been removed from "writing" the project, it is very odd for me to have my own content on this page, particularly as the last word. I'm entertaining sending the wrap-up along as a word document and offering to link if KF feels that it's necessary.
Much of the time I spent on
Much of the time I spent on my final project I spent writing text and thinking about how the themes, characters, and form were intertwined, so it felt very personal. However, even though I had a very different relationship with the written content of my project than Natwwal and crashingintowalls did, I also struggled with how to incorporate my Appendix into the project. I didn't want it to be a giveaway that you could read without reading any of the project, and that's one of the feelings that motivated me to place it in one of the houses.
Because my project felt like an extension of my head, my Appendix is also fairly personal. At least-- it's far more personal than the formal academic papers I'm used to writing. But I think it's more effective that way: a formal academic paper explaining this informal hypertext wouldn't fit very well.
