WOW

Does anyone remember Poe, that woman who was kind of a hit for 5 minutes in the mid-90's? She sang that "Angry Johnny" song?

Did anyone else notice the little Poe blurb on the back of House of Leaves? It says: "listen to the house. . . "HAUNTED" The new cd from Poe on Atlantic Records". I'd seen this a number of times before I really started thinking about how strange it is for a book like House of Leaves to have a cross-media product blurb on its back cover.

So then I realized that the text on the top of page 89 ("'pinch it', she said, which I did, lightly, until she also said 'pull it' which I also did, gently..."), which I'd thought had been recited in a Jewel song (that would've been even weirder) was actually recited in the beginning of a Poe song (Hey Pretty). Okay, so there's that.

Then I go to do some more research online to maybe find the song and I find out that Poe is Mark Danielewski's sister!!! What the crap??

As is mentioned in a number of reviews, P.O.E.'s Haunted (the album that the House of Leaves track appears on) is just as layered and complex as House of Leaves. Interesting.

Anyway, the album has other three songs that reference H.O.S., one called "House of Leaves" another called "5 1/2 Minute Hallway" and one called "Exploration B", if you want to check them out. Weird, though.

Ummm Familial relations

You doknow that Poe, the singer, is the author's actual right? In that regard it's not at all weird that she would write so much about House of Leaves being IN her family. :)

It's a very very interesting piece but I would have no belief tht he intended to cross-media market it for the sake of marketing. All evidence suggests that she loves the work and opted to release her work in support of it :)

Hope that helps some!
