As we all know, the whole celebutante craze is based on these girls who are basically famous for doing nothing particular at all. Of course, nothing other than creating drama and partying. Essentially.

So the interesting thing lately about Nicole Richie is that any time recently that she has been criticized for her below ageverage weight, she has posted a personal response on her blog. It is more than likely that this is really her responding rather than her people because, well I mean, would people she hired respond through a blog that is written like that? Probably not. By the way, this blog is about her old stylist Rachel Zoe that she just supposedly fired last week. APparently it was rumored that Zoe encouraged the dramatic weightloss in Richie. Other clients of Zoes include Mischa Barton and other underweight clients.

I think that its interesting that these celebutantes are taking full advantage of social networks to seemingly reach out to their fanbase, thus creating an even more loyal following. Its a smart publicity move to have their name be everywhere, even in a place where anyone can join. It makes them have an accessible image that appeals to the masses.

But at what point is too much too much. These girls are overexposed. Nothing is left to the imagination. Yet the complain about the paparazzi ollowing them and everyone making things up about them. Ironically, most of the time they are films doing the same acts they deny. Because someone is always watching. And because someone is always watching, they become more popular. As their celeb status grows, the less information that is withheld. Personally, I wonder how long these girls can maintain their status by doing nothing of significance.

Not to mention, that as these girls expose more and more ridiculous aspects of their lives, the more people because desensitized to the fact that their behavior is kind of ridiculous and not the norm. Are we going to have a bunch of nobodies wanting to be somebody simply because Paris Hilton did it? Obviously these girls come from well known families, but I wonder if we will reach a point in society where we will reward social climbers to the extent that we reward these celebutantes. HM.....

celeb myspace

I didn't realize how many celebrities actually had myspace pages! When I first heard about celebs on myspace I thought that they must have been created by some obsessed fans with too much time on their hands, and then I read an article which linked to one of these sites and discovered the truth, they're real! I was kind of shocked, mostly disgusted. The myspaces pages just seem to be fan sites created by the stars themselves, which is kind of sick to me.

I also find it interesting that more and more websites seem to be patrolling these pages for new gossip. As an avid celebrity trash mag reader (I know...I know...) I've witnessed that articles are increasingly relying on these pages for "newsworthy" material. Like you said, it seems wierd that they would complain about paparazzi invading their lives when they present them with the material to do so!
