MS 190: Authorship is the course website for the Fall 2006 Media Studies senior seminar at Pomona College in Claremont, California.
To the left, to the left...
I was going to tag this on to my last blog but it was reaching that length at which 95 percent of the class takes one look and moves on to the next blog. So, I have deceivingly tricked you into reading my jazz in a separate blog. Clever huh?
Anyway, since our class seems to be very musically inclined I wanted to blog about a little gem in my life, my dear friend Rhapsody. I'm sure some of you are familiar with it but I am recent convert so bear with me.
After having to wipe my hard drive and bending over backwards trying to get the music from my ipod back onto my computer (which is a whole 'nother blog) I have been temporarily sidetracked from itunes and turned to Rhapsody for my listening pleasure.
Rhapsody is a subscription service in which you pay 9.99 a month or 24.99 for three months for unlimited access to their library of literally millions of songs. With everything from independent artists to the latest releases in top 40, their music library is extremely extensive. As a member, you can add tracks and albums to your library, create playlists, create personalized radio stations, and a host of other cool things.
You don't *technically* own the music so you can't burn it or add it to your ipod or anything like that, but the cool thing about it is that your account and your library can be accessed by any computer. I have had my little sister in Oregon log into my account to hear a song I just found that I loved. The best thing is you can listen to CD's you would never purchase but still gotta hear for music's sake. AKA Beyonce's B'day as I mentioned earlier, or Nelly Furtado's new CD. The guilty pleasures never end.
Sorry if this sounds like a commercial but I am pretty much obsessed right now.
