My name is Justin Weitzel and I am a Media Studies major from Pitzer College. I am interested in pursuing documentary film as a career. I want to take my sociological observations and transform them into a tangible form of media. Some of my favorite films are: Bill and Coo, Freaks, Spider Baby, and Teen Witch. I am inspired by Michel Gondry, Wes Anderson, Michelangelo Antonioni, stop-motion, and children's fantasy movies. I would like to teach the class about YouTube, society's/the media's image of "Freaks" during the 1930's, any aspect of documentary film, sex in the media, or the legal boundaries/issues that arise as the interweb continues to evolve.
