I feel like we don't have to be so black and white here . . . couldn't there be a way that wikipedia could incorporate a mixed setup? For example, people who wanted privacy could have it, but if their IP's were traced to violating more than 3 (or so) wikipedia pages they would either have to surrender their identity, or leave wikipedia. This way people could maintain their privacy AND violators would be forced to reside within the honor policy.
I feel this would work . . . unless someone could make up tons of IP's and use them each three times to do something scandalous. But seriously, who does that??
That's a good idea for Wikipedia to compromise between the two. We all know Wikipedia is still figuring out this debate. However, wouldn't this mixed setup still enforce the "Big Brother" idea mentioned in Crazy Enough's blog?
