wiki we have a problem

How are we going to make a class wiki by seeing all the things we have in common and not make it like facebook? In facebook you can click on pretty much any personal information you list and it will bring up other users who have posted the same items. I like the idea of uniting our class with wiki, but I'm not sure if Wikipedia is the best way to do this.

I think that any time you try to create an online community space that connects people's common interests, you're going to wind up with a certain kind of set up. Facebook has just managed to create one that's user-friendly and efficient. I am not entirely sure how to go beyond that...But maybe, I'm just thinking too much inside the box.

good point; maybe we could make ours a little bit more esoteric and creative and a little less practical? More on the side of interactive art than social networking tool?

I think the key is multiple degrees of seperation. The idea reminds of Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon game, where our goal would be to uncover as many connections as possible. Facebook doesn't reveal multiple degrees: imagine Todd is a Boy Scout and Frank's grandfather was a Boy Scout. FB wouldn't show this. A wiki would -- if Frank had made a page for his grandfather and a page was made for Scouting.

how does one go about formatting a page to match the usual wiki look? Does it require html editing? Can I copy it from somewhere instead?

Formatting instructions can be found here.
