"Whatever it is... you can get it on ebay"

GreenPost-it's post about the Wiki t-shirt really interested me. I know we're mostly focusing on blogs and wikipedia but eBay is another huge contributor to online connection and communication. It's like a gigantic online garage sale. I actually attended "eBay University" where I learned how to sell my Seinfeld Seasons 1 & 2 DVDs and have bought numerous things. Like other websites, eBay can introduce you to things you weren't aware of and it makes things more accessible. EBay also changes our market; now stores look online to adjust prices and have even more competitors. It has the feel for a blog in the fact that it is interactive, instead of just buying an item you bid up to what you think it is worth.

Ebay has ahd the biggest effect on markets without a common buying ground, or standard; namely, baseball cards and Beanie Babies. Both items are only worth what people are willing to pay, and before Ebay no one really knew what someone else was willing to pay. The end product has been the destruction of both markets rendering most items worthless.

The real magic to this horribleness (at least for me) is the spreading of information. People have access to information previously unknown, and this is what I think you were reffering to. The new "Library of Alexandria" is at everyone of our fignertips. We just have to continue to learn how to exploit its potential.
