this week we looked at hyper text as a way of reading novels and what not online. These novels would be in the form of " choose your adventure" books with different outcomes for each choice made.
At first a story in hypertext, to me seemed like a great idea.i mean who didnt love choose your own adventure books as a kid, and the ability to read it on the computer would make for right at your fingers access. but then what would this mean for books and the traditional format for reading. I personally dont want to read the end of the book first, that would just ruin the entire story. And you would never be able to figure out the order of events, because the entire thing would be presented in a non linear fashion. then i asked my self would people really want to read a story that didnt have a set beginning, middle and end.
Granted hypertext novels would be a really large step for the way that internet is seen, but at this point in time, the world isn't ready for it.
