Okay, so I finished Infinite Jest this morning, and I don't really feel closure. We had some guesses reaffirmed by Hal near the end, and some light was certainly shed on Gately's past, but I didn't really feel an end. I guess I was hoping to see a little more of Joelle and to figure out more about Marathe. To tell you the truth, I am still confused about Marathe. What became of him and the wheelchair gang? Does anybody know? Were we supposed to know? I wish we knew what became of my favorite character, Pemulis. He was expelled (right?) and now he is just waiting out the semester before he leaves? I'm also guessing he wants to talk to Hal about doping him up. Hmmm. I don't know. I just didn't feel a complete book. I felt kind of like I walked into the middle of a story, heard a lot about it, filled in the gaps in the plot, and then left before it was finished. Does anybody else feel the same way?
Ok, I'm finished. Whew!

Yeah, definitely. I feel like nothing really got resolved. I know we're supposed to put the pieces together, and I know I have all the materials to do so, but somehow they aren't fitting quite right yet. It might take some time to set it. Maybe? I hope.
Did Joelle get killed by the AFR? There was that lady who told her she was in danger, and then she saw the AFR's van. I may be jumping to the wrong conclusions on that one, though.
And Orin? Did he get killed by them (the AFR) too (in that scene with the not-so-Swiss-after-all lady and the big cup)? Or was that just a dream?
And the Gately thing was weird. I feel like he's the character that I have the fullest picture of, but I really don't get what happened to him in the end.
One thing I wonder about is the dream with that I think both Gately and Hal have of digging up James Incandenza presumably in search of the cartridge? what happened to the cartridge?
Yeah, I don't know. I remember Joelle's encounter with the AFR, but I don't know what happened. I have a very hard time figuring out what is a dream and what is reality, also. We need to clarify in class!!
