A Contribution to the Critique of Political Economy

From MarxWiki

In A Contribution to the Critique of Political Economy (first published in 1903 after Marx’s death) Marx concerns himself with production and the naturalization of capitalism. He critiques the view used by Smith and Ricardo that there exists/ed the concept of a “natural man” that is “free from the bonds of nature” and in harmony with nature that modern economists often use as starting point got economic theory. Modern economists use the naturally isolated individual acting on self-interest to explain the “invisible hand” that guides the capitalist market for goods. By tearing down the assumptions inherent in the concept of “natural man” Marx also rips apart the invisible hand that guides distribution. This leads to his other main argument in this work: production and consumption are not speparated from eachother in the way that mondern economics would have us believe.
