Aura

The aura is Walter Benjamin's term for the authenticity which is given to the orignal. Examples of this are that people flock to see the Mona Lisa, an image which most people are familiar with, even though they have seen it many times before. When they see it in person, there is a certain authenticity or aura which `surrounds` it because now they have seen the original.
