Maoism

From MarxWiki

A variant of communism developed by the leader of the Chinese communist revolution, Mao Zedong. This theory differs from Leninism and other forms of communism in that it focuses on the peasantry as the revolutionary force rather than the urban working class. Instead of espousing a policy of industrial advancement, Maoism advocates universal rural and agrarian development. Another defining characteristic of Maoism is the definitive link between the socialist political theory and the military. Mao believed that the class struggle existed for the entirety of the socialist transition to communism and that at any given time capitalists could restore their government. Therefore it was necessary under Maoism to obtain power through force using the peasantry as the weapon of a “people’s war”. In 1978 the communist government of China was reformed and the definition and role of Maoism changed.
