Media literacy

Media Literacy attempts to teach people about how media works, who controls it and how it plays a part in everyones lives. By explaining how advertising work, the consolidation of the media and how media and popular culture interact, people can be better educated about how they are getting their news and entertainment. Teaching people to be more critical about the information they recieve and to actively interact with it are issues that can be understood in a broader context, than just Media Literacy, because they are necessary skills in critical thinking that are not emphasized in many educational enviroments.
