Nomadic readers

From MarxWiki

Explored by Henry Jenkins in his book Textual Poachers, the idea of `nomadic readers` refers to the phenomena that those participating in fan culture are not tied down to any one text (36). Once a person becomes involved in the fan subculture, Jenkins insists that they learn about other texts by those with similar interests and expand their fandom by forming relationships with other texts. Jenkins feels this idea is important in considering fandom as not just a subculture but as a subversive force, explaining that a large sense of community and a large system of communication is developed that, as a whole, has the power to subvert specific forces, such as George Lucas and his ideas of authorial intent, and the larger mainstream ideology, as people participating obsessively in a culture with different ideologies.
