Socialism

From MarxWiki

Although history has already demonstrated many different interpretations and incarnations of political thought claiming to be socialist in nature, the political and economic structures formed in the name of socialism share several characteristics. Socialism is formed around the egalitarian notion that all citizens are equal, and each cooperates and makes certain sacrifices to ensure the general well-being of his or her society.

Proponents of socialism do not necessarily trace their ideologies back to Marx, but elements of Marx's thought are reflected within socialist ideology. Marx's idea of class, for example, points out the divisions present within a society that hinder the mutual cooperation of its citizens for the good of all.
